Happy Burns night!

A Scottish song that I love playing is The Skye Boat Song. It has such a melancholic melody for the harp and voice. It’s actually a one of my more requested funeral song.

I don’t always advertise about the funerals that I perform for. They are always last minute to organise due to the time restraints of notice. But using folk tunes is a lovely way to honour one’s heritage.

Obviously this isn't me with the harp this week, but what I love about this photo is how much fun the couple are having with it. I always offer the opportunity to have some photos with my harp and it definitely makes a wonderful photo for them rather than just a close up of my hands on the strings (which I see a lot of).

We’ve made it to Wednesday, so here’s a little video to add to my #WeddingRequests.

Here is a video I recorded at the @pauntley_court during their last wedding showcase event. It’s always lovely and cosy at this venue especially when they have the fire place lit in the other room.

These videos are small snippets of songs that I am frequently asked to perform at ceremonies, drink receptions and wedding breakfasts.

We’ve made it to Wednesday, so here’s a little video to add to my #WeddingRequests.

Here is a video I recorded at @badmintonestate during their last wedding showcase event. Their Worcester Lodge has the most amazing acoustics as well as beautiful views from the balcony. It’s a great location to see all your guests within mingling around the marquee (@thecountrymarqueeco)

I couldn't think of a better photographer duo to thank on my last 2024 Photographer Friday posts than my own wedding photographers @luluandscott who shot at @waltoncastle

What I love about their style of photography is that they work so good together to catch the wonderful little moments without being in the way for us to enjoy those moments. I am a huge lover of gardening so much so that I wanted to use all my own garden flowers for my wedding. Growing them was the easy part but setting them up took a village of the best of friends and family.

Lulu and Scott like to keep their photos bright and vibrant which I really appreciated with all the flowers that I used, especially as we had such a grey sky on the day. It is a testament of their skills and editing to make sure that everything I wanted really stood out in our photos.

When decorating for Christmas it has definitely been a comprise on tastes this year. For my husband’s advent calendar, I separated a Lego wreath from the 9 bags they provided into 24 separate bags. So everyday he had a new bag to add to it.

After his 24 days of waiting to finish it, he can now proudly display his wreath on the table.

Congratulation to Sophie and Chris who renewed their commitment at St John the Baptist’s church in Winscombe. This was my last wedding of 2024 and what a beautiful ceremony it was.

The couple had a wonderful selection of songs, including “Penny Lane” for the groom to walk in with his sister (Brazilian custom), and the bride requested “I want to hold your hand” for her walk.

Even the hymn choices were a lovely change for me which included “In the bleak mid winter”, “Amazing Grace” and “Auld Lang Syne”

As a supplier, you know it’s going to be a smooth wedding when the couple have chosen a wedding planner to take charge.

I have been working a lot behind the scenes with building my business and making my website as informative to new clients as possible.

This year I set myself a task of trying to create reels at every wedding that I was booked for as I wanted to show the setup required for each individual venue.

On top of that, whenever I am at a venue performing I always aim to record videos of myself playing to highlight the individuality of what that venue offers for musicians and their clients.

It’s taken me a long time of website editing, but I have now added all the venues that I have performed at since moving to Bristol. You can view where I am a recommended supplier as well as being able to view recent reels/videos of myself playing at these various venues.

I’m hoping to carry on this progress into 2025, especially as I know that being able to listen and watch videos of your potential wedding venue can be a game changer with deciding whether you want to book them.

Hopefully this is not only helpful to new clients but also all the wonderful staff at the various venues that I have worked at.

This year I set myself a task of trying to create reels at every wedding that I was booked for as I wanted to show the setup required for each individual venue.

On top of that, whenever I am at a venue performing I always aim to record videos of myself playing to highlight the individuality of what that venue offers for musicians and their clients.

It’s taken me a long time of website editing, but I have now added all the venues that I have performed at since moving to Bristol. You can view where I am a recommended supplier as well as being able to view recent reels/videos of myself playing at these various venues.

I’m hoping to carry on this progress into 2025, especially as I know that being able to listen and watch videos of your potential wedding venue can be a game changer with deciding whether you want to book them.

Hopefully this is not only helpful to new clients but also all the wonderful staff at the various venues that I have worked at.

What I love about this photo is of the relaxed atmosphere it portrays. This was taken as I was playing for arrival of the wedding guests checking in. Her style of photography always has such a romantic haze to them.

I am so happy with how this wreath has turned out. This was my first time making one with my sister in law.
I absolutely love the fact that it’s all made from the foliage from my garden.

Top tip:
I ended up buying some Christmas Potpourri pine cones from @sainsburys and oh my, it smells so good next to the foliage as you enter through the house.

To finish it off, a nice little ribbon bow from @thewhitecompany and a wooden little harp that I had.

Feeling even more festive!

Wedding Requests: The Rainbow Connection

We’ve made it to Wednesday, so here’s a little video to add to my #WeddingRequests.

Here is a video I recorded at the @pauntley_court during their last wedding showcase event. It’s always lovely and cosy at this venue especially when they have the fire place lit in the other room.

These videos are small snippets of songs that I am frequently asked to perform at ceremonies, drink receptions and wedding breakfasts.
A lot of couples ask for suggestions so hopefully these videos will help.

2025 Price Increase

It has been a great year of bookings and enquiries. However, with all of my business expenses rising come January, I have come to the decision that I will need to raise my prices as well.

This is to help cover the cost increase of maintaining my instruments as well as all of the business fees that I pay to run my self employed business.

I will honour any enquiry quotes that I have given up until 31st December. If I have not received a deposit by 31st December, then the prices will increase.
